Dr. Alessandro Ripani (Italy) has just joined the OIE Sub-Regional Representation in Tunis where he will be responsible for the scientific and technical issues. After five years and a half at the OIE Headquarters in Paris, first at the Animal Health Information Department and later (from August 2010 onwards) at the Scientific and Technical Department (processing of Member Country applications for official recognition of disease status in relation to specific animal diseases), he returned to the Istituto Sperimentale Zooprofilattico dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G. Caporale”, his home institution, in September 2013 for a short stay before being appointed in Tunis.

Dr. Ripani replaces Dr Antonio Petrini who returned to the same Istituto Sperimentale Zooprofilattico dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G. Corporale”. In his new role, Dr. Antonio Petrini, who spent four intense years at the OIE representation in Tunis, will certainly have plenty of opportunity to keep in touch with former colleagues at the OIE, and we wish him all the best.
