OIE confirms Dr. Neo Mapitse as Representative for Southern Africa.

As a result of the retirement of Dr Bonaventure Mtei in late 2011, a vacancy announcement was launched for his replacement. Following the completion of the recruitment process, the OIE Director – General has now appointed the current Deputy Sub-Regional Representative for Southern Africa, Dr. Neo Mapitse, to take over with effect from January 1st, 2012.

Neo is a Botswana national, doctor in veterinary medicine (BVMS) from the Glasgow University Veterinary School, University of Glasgow (UK) with a MSc in wild animal health from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London (UK) to his name. Dr Mapitse joined the OIE in Gaborone as Deputy-Representative in August 2010 from the Botswana Department of Veterinary Services (Ministry of Agriculture) where he was a Principal Veterinary Officer and Head of the Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics Section.
