It is with great sadness that OIE has learned that our colleague and OIE Delegate for Namibia, Dr. Otto Hübschle has passed away in Paris on July 16th. Dr Hübschle suffered a heart failure while attending the 76th OIE General Session in May and remained in intensive care in Paris since.

Namibia Otto Huebschle

“May you be comforted in the knowledge that many friends and colleagues of Dr Otto throughout this continent and around the world are with you during this time of sadness and sorrow. Our minds, out hearts and out spirit shares with you the sorrow, sadness and trauma that comes with the loss of a loved one, especially a father and husband. We had known him not for too many years as he joined the OIE Regional Commission for Africa when he took the reigns of Narnibia’s Veterinary Directorate, yet its been like we had known him for time immemorial. A friend, a colleague and a relentless professional in our quest to improve Africa’s animal health delivery systems and to increase her returns from her vase animal resource base”

Message of condolences by Dr. Robert S. Thwala, President of the OIE Regional Commission for Africa
