The OIE is deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of the former Director of Livestock Services and OIE Delegate of the Union of Comoros, Mr Soule Miradji. He died on 12 April 2017 following an illness which forced him to renounce to all his official duties in December 2016 and had seen him hospitalized until his passing.

Soulé Miradji was appointed OIE Delegate in August 2012. Since then, he has managed to lead, under very difficult conditions, the veterinary services of his country, a country ravaged several times by epizootics and major epidemics.

The premature death of Mr. Soulé is a great loss for the OIE, especially the East Africa and Indian Ocean region and he will always be missed. The OIE extends its condolences to the family of Mr Miradji, Mrs Miradji and his children, as well as all his colleagues in the Union. May his soul rest in peace.
