OIE training of Focal Points for Veterinary Products (cycle III) North Africa and Middle East

Focal points from 11 member countries of the OIE in North Africa and the Middle East met in Algiers from 1 to 3 October 2013, during an Inter-Regional Seminar for OIE National Focal Points for Veterinary Products – 3rd Cycle.

After a first session dedicated principally to new focal points, the Inter-Regional Seminar allowed to present and discuss:

• Diagnostic test validation methods and kits,
• Antimicrobial use and resistance,
• Antiparasitic drugs,
• Veterinary products in general and good governance.

The seminar was well covered by the local media and has been evaluated positively by participants highlighting the rich discussions with the speakers, especially during the working groups on diagnostic tests and also on antiparasitic drugs.

At the end of the seminar, a visit of a pharmaceutical plant located a few kilometers from Algiers was held Thursday, October 3 in the afternoon.
